What is psoriasis?
Nowdays, psoriasis is one of the most common skin diseases in the world. Researches show that 120-180 million people suffer from psoriasis, it affects about 2-3% of the Earth’s population.
Skin affected by psoriasis is red and scaly. The epidermis contains skin cells, which are continuously being replaced. This process normally takes between three and four weeks. In psoriasis, skin cells divide more quickly so that cells are both formed and shed in as little as three to four days.
Both inherited and environmental factors play a role in the development of psoriasis. Regardless of age and gender, you can develop it at any time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to completely cure it, but there are many effective treatments available to keep it under good control.

The famous medicinal water of Harkány is proven as the most beneficial alternative treatment for the psoriasis. Three elements needed for the cure: medicinal water, sunlight or artificial UV light and physiotherapy.
In our Hotel’s Health Care Centre patients are treated with the combination of natural spa treatments and traditional dermatological therapies. The complex treatments are based on fresh medicinal water baths, providing our patients the intimacy during the course.
Process of the treatment
We treat all patients personalized. Our treatments are primarily recommended for chronic stationer plaque psoriasis problem and the possibly associated rheumatoid arthritis.
Treatments are performed in separate rooms in discrete conditions. Patients receive the light therapy directly after the first bath (taking strict account of contraindications). After that, an anthralin (dithranol) treatment with a contact time of 20 minutes is used. At the end of the treatment period, patients remove the ointment from the skin surface with a medicinal water containing shower gel. We also provide skin care ointment for our guests.
The psoriasis treatment takes 1,5-2 hours a day.
In case of rheumatic problems, the treatment can be supplemented with rheumatological examination, constant medical supervision and physiotherapy.
When making the appointments of the treatments, we always consider our patients’s request, so our patients can spend the rest of the day with relaxing, recharging.
At the end of the treatment, we give our patients a summary medical report.
